About
I am pursuing Electrical engineering (2021) which was my dream while I was preparing for JEE. After getting into IIT JEE, I got
confused while exploring more and more. I grew my interest in Astrophysics when I had come across a chapter in modern physics,
named as Special theory of Relativity. I dived deeper and deeper, studied about the Evolution of stars and black holes, and took
additional courses into Astronomy, and will be receiving my Astronomy minor degree in 2021. Astronomy was my love when I was in
school days, but got diverted later. I found that getting into IIT was not a bad decision.
Here, at IIT Indore, there is a well-established Astronomy department, and that is a good part of this IIT college. It is a good place
for them who are interested in technical subjects and want to do good research in astronomy. I took the charge of the astronomy
club in March 2019 that helped a lot to shape my thinking ideas. I got a chance to work with Prof. Avinash Deshpande for several projects.
He helped me to choose my career.
I reinvented this club when I took the presidency of this club. We organized various club activities including workshops on Exoplanet detection.
We worked on potential projects including, Vela Pulsar data analysis, Exoplanet detection, H1 line observations, Building ground station, etc.
and currently working on Habitable Exoplanet detection, rotation curve of the galaxy, Jovian planets observation, A low-cost receiver system,
Lunar occultation, etc. I have a crush on every section of astronomy from stellar physics to cosmology, from radio observations to space technology.
I enjoy every part of this subject but I have a major crush on radio astronomy because it involves electrical engineering (designing antenna,
developing receivers, Image processing of celestial bodies in radio), and Data Analysis to get an intuitive idea about the physics of the stellar
structure.
I had a crush on Astronomy which I have converted into my love and will live with it in the future.
Searching the habitable exoplanet in this modern era is a hot topic among young astronomers. Since we were doing a project
on this topic. We thought to share our knowledge so we conducted a 3-days workshop containing detailed theory of exoplanet
and Kepler data analysis using python.
Astronomy Quiz helps to test our acquaintance with space. It was fun to conduct this event.

Working on real-life projects help students to build their profile stronger. We worked on various
practical projects. I guided my club members and motivated them to work on those problems. It includes
early phases of Exoplanet detection, Pulsar data analysis, Antenna design, H1 line observations, Building a
Ground station and a star tracker. We are working on new projects which is the next phase of the above-mentioned
projects.
The idea was to get the rotation curve of the Milky way galaxy. We learned about the H1 line physics,
space coordinates, Horn antenna, and the receiver system. We observed the H1 line in the galactic plane
and received a signal at 1420 MHz (21 cm). It is Phase 1 of this project and the next phase is to observe
H1 in the galactic plane to understand the velocity distribution of the celestial objects in the galaxy.
Although this project includes a simple algorithm to get the pulsar profile, it is of great interest to
see those periodically repeated signals. For this project, we used the Vela data of Ooty radio telescope
which was provided to us during the SWAN Imaging challenge 2019. Observations of Pulsar through our designed antenna
is the next phase of this project.
